Harvard TEATRO! is proud to present this original translation of Nuestra Señora de las Nubes, a piece of Latin American theatre written in response to the Argentine “Guerra Sucia” (Dirty War). It tells the story of two exiles, Oscar and Bruna, years after they fled their homes in a fictional Latin American country called “Nuestra Señora de las Nubes.” Through comedy and tragedy, we explore the various characters of this fictional country, state, town, and delve into the function memory serves for the exile. As Oscar and Bruna progress through the play, their memories of their home – both good and bad – begin to fade and melt together as they confront near constant rejection in their new homes. In this way, we see how political exile leaves the exile in a state of limbo, living in a place they cannot call home and dreaming of a home which no longer exists.
The play contains a brief mention of sexual violence (not depicted onstage).
