ABOUT

This is a play to push against a kingdom. It is a celebration of the women who have come before and the women who will come after. It is an expression of love, joy, rage, frustration, desire, need. The need to be respected. The need to be heard. A play to push against a kingdom.

This community event will combine the classical text of Shakespeare’s Histories and tactics from the contemporary socially-engaged art world to encourage interaction, conversation, and discovery. Fit For A King provides women with an opportunity to take on the iconic, challenging, and rewarding roles of Shakespeare’s kings in scenes and monologues from the history plays that are brought together into one narrative.
